On 29 January 2026, students from grades 3-5 of the Commercial College as well as those from grades 4-5 of the Technical College attended a performance of Hamlet by Vienna’s English Theatre at the Salzhof Freistadt.
The 60-minute performance of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy, adapted by Clive Duncan, presented the story in modern language and focused strongly on Hamlet’s psychological state. Themes such as grief, doubt and mental health made the play highly relevant and accessible for the young audience.
Performed by just four actors, the production used minimal stage design, creative role changes and direct interaction with the audience. This kept the performance dynamic, engaging and easy to follow, even for students with different levels of English proficiency.
The theatre visit provided an authentic language experience and was a valuable addition to classroom learning.
